With everything swirling in the news in regards to immigration policy, we just wanted to share with you a message we received from our directors in Mexico, about one of the boys on our soccer team. A boy coming from gang life, a life that once was an addict and alcoholic, someone who comes from a history of violence... and boy who would have just been another statistic of the "scary ones", and rightfully so, the media often talks about. But this, this is just a glimpse into redemption. This is a simple glimpse of how things can look different, when we choose to empower and love.
This story is your story. You are apart of the change. We cannot thank you enough.

"...But I saw something else this week that works. Love. It kept a family together and deterred illegal immigration. Fer, the one who got second place in the race, he was approached by his cousins to go to the US with them this past weekend. He has every reason to go: a baby on the way, a 6 day a week job that pays awful, a packed sweaty bus ride to and from work everyday, a living situation that is cramped and dysfunctional... but he said no. He thought about the baby on the way and the family he would leave behind... he thought about us...his Marked family... who love him recklessly and a soccer team full of boys who count on him. He decided not to go because love gave him hope. He shared that with us on Friday and I just had the most beautiful view of the Father's love for him as his pregnant wife cheered him on at practice and I watched him literally soaring, free and full of life as he led the pack of other boys on their bikes that led the caravan back home to the base.
