"They're always smiling! Are the kids always happy? I feel like we never see a sad face." - Ahhhhh this is the BEST compliment. The answer is no, they're not always smiling, we do have hard days, but for the most part, YES, they do smile a lot! One of the things that we try our hardest to portray is just how joyfilled our kids and communities are. It doesn't mean that they don't each struggle, have heartache, and that their stories aren't filled with some of the most heartbreaking abuse. But, if we showed you constant pictures of sad children, it wouldn't be honest, it wouldn't be real. We never want to play off your emotions to tell a story. Our kids and communities know how to find joy in the hardest of circumstances. Has it always been this way? No. But it is something we have fought for? Yes. And today, if you visited, you would see that joy fills our streets, our center and our kids.
