Hosting the closing ceremony for the Mommy & Me course was without a doubt, the highlight of the week. We had the chance to celebrate and honor the 12 mothers along with their children who have faithfully attended class each week at Casa MARKED.
La celebración de la ceremonia de clausura del curso de educación inicial fue, sin duda, lo más destacado de la semana. Tuvimos la oportunidad de celebrar y honrar a las 12 madres junto con sus hijos que han asistido fielmente a clase cada semana en Casa MARKED.

The preparations for the ceremony began the day before, setting up tables, blowing up balloons and getting decorations placed. Our staff, along with others in the community, worked to make the space look festive.
Los preparativos de la ceremonia comenzaron el día anterior, poniendo mesas, inflando globos y colocando adornos. Nuestro personal, junto con otros miembros de la comunidad, trabajaron para que el espacio se viera festivo.
The day of the event, Chuy and some other volunteers started cooking early in the day, preparing an extra special celebratory meal. Then, the final touches to decorations were made and it was time for the ceremony!
El día del evento, Chuy y algunos otros voluntarios comenzaron a cocinar temprano en el día, preparando una comida de celebración extra especial. Luego, se hicieron los toques finales a las decoraciones y llegó el momento de la ceremonia.
Each of the mothers and their children arrived in their nicest clothes, hair slicked back and ready to celebrate one another. We recognized each of the mothers for their commitment to the program and their faithfulness in showing up to class each week, participating, and working hard to learn for and alongside their children.
Cada una de las madres y sus hijos llegaron con sus mejores galas, el cabello peinado hacia atrás y listos para celebrarse unos a otros. Reconocimos a cada una de las madres por su compromiso con el programa y su fidelidad al presentarse a clase cada semana, participar y trabajar arduamente para aprender para y junto a sus hijos.
Following the ceremony, of course we shared a delicious meal. Seeing Casa MARKED full of families gathered around the table, smiling and laughing together, celebrating growth and learning, creating positive memories together was like seeing the dreams of the community coming true.
Después de la ceremonia, por supuesto compartimos una deliciosa comida. Ver Casa MARKED llena de familias reunidas alrededor de la mesa, sonriendo y riendo juntas, celebrando el crecimiento y el aprendizaje, creando recuerdos positivos juntos fue como ver los sueños de la comunidad hacerse realidad.
We are so thankful for how Casa MARKED has become a space where people are inspired, empowered and given hope.
